Azure Functions

Azure Functions is a serverless compute service that enables you to run small pieces of code—often called "functions"—in the cloud without worrying about provisioning or managing the underlying server infrastructure. This event-driven platform automatically scales your code execution based on demand, running your functions only when triggered by specific events such as HTTP requests, timer schedules, message queue arrivals, or database changes, and you pay only for the compute time you actually consume. Functions are ideal for building microservices, processing data streams, integrating disparate systems, implementing backend APIs, and handling scheduled tasks, all while eliminating the complexity of server management, deployment pipelines, and capacity planning. The service supports multiple programming languages including C#, JavaScript, Python, and Java, allowing developers to write code in their preferred language and focus purely on business logic rather than infrastructure concerns.
